This is obviously NOT a photo of me running (however, it is someone I know well), but it does represent a few of the things I enjoy. I think one of the reasons I like track and field so much, is that it is loaded with math and science. Read below to learn more about me:
This is my tenth year as a teacher. I taught fourth grade at Burnside Elementary during my first two years, fifth grade for four years at Twin Bluff Middle School, two years of sixth grade at Sunnyside Elementary, and now back to Twin Bluff, teaching sixth grade math. I got my teaching degree from The College of St. Scholastica in May of 2013 and Masters of Science in Teaching in May of 2018. Before deciding to become a teacher, I was a freelance graphic designer for the University of Minnesota Sports Marketing Department and a sales representative for a printing company in Minneapolis.
I grew up in the small town of St. Ansgar, Iowa. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. Degree in Graphic Design. I played both basketball and baseball while attending college, and was a captain of the University of Northern Iowa Baseball team.
My wife, Tara, and I have four children (Kemper, Mayzee, Cadence and Elle). As a family, we enjoy sports, dancing, listening to music, reading, playing board games and participating in all types of outdoor activities.
I am currently the Red Wing High School Head Strength & Speed Coach. I have been an assistant coach for girls basketball and track and field for Red Wing High School. I have also coached youth basketball and baseball. My favorite color combination is orange and silver and my favorite types of music are bluegrass, folk, and indie rock. Currently, my favorite bands to listen to are the Avett Brothers, Cloud Cult, Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, and Decemberists.
Finally, and most importantly, I love helping children grow and learn. This is the main reason I'm a teacher.
"The potential possibilities of EVERY child are the most intriguing and stimulating in all creation."
